Botswana

In June 2023, TD Orchestra began its first music school in Botswana, in collaboration with the artist and drummer Onneile Morolong and his colleagues, who are based in Maun. The music school is free of charge to the local community; its current focus is on reading sheet music and basic music theory lessons, with the idea of offering instrumental lessons in the near future.

The current students are children from the communities in the vicinity of Maun. In-person instruction is given by Onneile Morolong and his colleagues.

In the spring of 2024, TD Orchestra established a Botswana-based satellite nonprofit organization, called the Tatsuya Daniel Orchestra and The Bold Percussions. The Botswana-based nonprofit will continue to partner with other Botswana-based organizations to establish permanent primary and secondary TD Orchestra schools nationwide.
